Aim and swing, it's fairly straightforward. Sensations can be varied depending upon what portion of the crop you are hitting with. The shaft is much like hitting with a miniblind rod, while the bit at the end has a lot more sting.
It is very easy to leave wounds more severe than you intended to, so start soft with your swings, and work your way up. You can always hit them again, but it's impossible to un-hit them, even once.

I really like my crops, they're a very controlable hitting toy, far more predictable than floggers, whips, canes and the like.

The Riding Crop can deliver quite a nasty sting depending on your Dom/me's mood. But on the other hand can be quite pleasureable as well :)
